New Horizons' News
Here's the latest news from New Horizons.
Presentation by Sue Slater.
Supporter of the boat and keen runner Sue Slater came down to the boatyard on August 29th along with her husband to present a cheque to us, the proceeds from her sponsored running of three marathons. Receiving the cheque, for an amazing £1059-00, on behalf of the trust were James, Peter, Joan and David, they in return presented Sue with a bouquet and champagne as a token of thanks for her efforts in supporting us.
Volunteer for the Day, William Wragg.
Last Wednesday we welcomed William along as a volunteer for the day on New Horizons. This was all part of his involvement in Volunteer Week. He had a great time on the boat helping with a trip and meeting various volunteers and passengers.
On the 12th and 13th August, we welcomed Paul Kelly and two groups of young wheelchair football players, accompanied by their parents and carers, onto the boat.
Paul is the Disability Coordinator for ‘City in the Community’, the organisation formed in 1986 to forge links between Manchester City Football Club and the local community.
What a great month for Donations.
August has been a bumper month for donations to the boat, there have been three very generous donations already, and on Saturday 29th we will also be presented with the cheque from Sue Slator, pictures and write up to follow.
